Handmade Ball Jointed Doll - Xeshaire - VIDEO by vonBorowsky VIDEO: youtu.be/yX0MgBWZu5g

Meet Xeshaire, also known as the best doll I ever made.
This doll was a commission for :iconxeshaire:, a very nice person, by the way.

About the doll: this piece is a fully handmade ball jointed doll, made out of cold porcelain clay with no use of paints. It features handpainted glass eyes and faux fur. Xeshaire has an improved poseability and is bigger than my older dolls.

I have so many things to say about this doll. First, I like the character since the first time I saw that (long time before being asked to make the doll). The color combination is simply amazing! And when I was asked to make this doll, I became very happy because I thought it would be a gorgeous doll.

Xeshaire was a school to me. The customer wanted all the markings to be made of clay and not painted. I never had done so many markings out of clay before and I thought it wasn't possible. But I tell her (the customer) it could do that. So, I started to mix her colors, something that took me one and a half ours and I mixed 1kg of cold porcelain. I was feeling pain in the hands and arms after finish, and I have to mix and remix it many times until I got all colors right. After, I started sculpting and thought "if I be able to make the faceplate,  will be able to make all the rest". It is because the faceplate has four colors and many details that can be better viwed in her reference. Things happen I developed a new way to make marks out of clay much better than the one I had! And it works and looks amazing.

Next, the character had fur all along the body and tail and a hairstyle on the bangs. I never made hairstyles before, nor fur along all the body (but the second wasn't a problem and yes, the fur along the tail). So, I made the tail in a way you couldn't twist it and get fur pointing everywhere! And it workd just fine as well. And, for the last, her bangs. I remake that three times until I finally made it right! The last time I took 1mm strands of hair and glued one by one. It took a long time but workd very well!

In the end, this is my very favorite work, because I am very proud of it, of the many things I learned during its process. She is for sure a doll in a next level than the older ones. And the next will be in her same quality!
I hope you like her as much as I do!

This doll was started in September, 2013 and finished in January, 2014. It was produced along 39 days, during five months, and took 53 hours of work.
